To help us help you faster, include your phone model, OS version, ReceiptBook version and what happened. Please don’t attach receipts that show full card numbers or other sensitive details.
Getting started
Do I need an account?
No. There’s no sign-up, no password and no bank to connect. Open ReceiptBook and scan your first receipt.
What can I bring in?
Paper receipts scanned with the camera, photos from your library, and PDFs, images and XML e-invoices opened from Mail, Files or other apps.
Which countries does ReceiptBook support?
The United Kingdom, Germany, France and the United States: the right currency, VAT rates (or US sales tax), period lengths including the UK tax year from 6 April, and CSV files formatted the way each country expects. The app is available in English, German and French.
Which devices are supported?
ReceiptBook for iPhone requires iOS 18 or later. The extra on-device reading in Pro needs an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence; everything else works without it. Check Google Play for Android availability.
Using ReceiptBook
What does “Check” mean?
ReceiptBook marks any detail it isn’t sure about with Check instead of guessing silently. Open the document, confirm or correct the value, and it’s filed. Every change is recorded in the change log.
Does ReceiptBook upload my receipts?
No. Documents are read on your phone. Nothing leaves your phone until you export or share it yourself.
How do vendor rules work?
When you set a category for a vendor, you can save it as a rule. Future documents from that vendor are filed the same way, and you can change or remove rules at any time.
Can I lock ReceiptBook?
Yes. Turn on Face ID lock in Settings. The check is done by the operating system, and ReceiptBook never receives your face data.
Exports
What’s in the accountant package?
One ZIP for the period with:
- transactions.csv, one row per document and VAT rate
- summary.csv, totals by category and VAT rate
- period.pdf, the same totals and a list of documents
- audit.csv, every change made, with time and source
- every original, exactly as captured or received
- manifest.csv, the size and SHA-256 of every file
What format are the CSV files?
UTF-8 text with dates as YYYY-MM-DD and one row per VAT rate, ready for Excel, Numbers or your bookkeeping app. Number formats follow the country you choose.
Is exporting originals really free?
Yes. Export all originals, with a SHA-256 list, is free on every plan, whether or not you ever subscribe.
What is the SHA-256 manifest for?
It lists a fingerprint for every file. Anyone can recompute the fingerprint to check that a file is exactly the one that was exported.
ReceiptBook Pro & billing
What’s included in ReceiptBook Pro?
The Accountant package, Spreadsheet (CSV) and Period report (PDF) exports, automatic categories, and extra on-device reading on iPhones that support Apple Intelligence. Plans: $39.99 per year with a 7-day free trial, $9.99 per month (new subscribers pay $4.99 a month for the first 3 months), or $79.99 once for lifetime. Prices are in USD; your store shows your local price.
How does the free trial work?
The yearly plan includes a 7-day free trial for eligible users. If you don’t cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the yearly subscription starts and your Apple ID or Google Play account is charged.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On iPhone, open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose ReceiptBook and tap Cancel Subscription.
On Android, open the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, choose ReceiptBook and tap Cancel.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge. You keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are processed by Apple or Google, so refunds are handled by them. For App Store purchases, request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google Play purchases, see Google Play’s refund help.
I got a new phone. How do I get Pro back?
Purchases are tied to your Apple ID or Google account. Sign in to the store with the same account on your new phone, open ReceiptBook and tap Restore Purchases.
Privacy & data
Where is my data stored?
Your documents are stored on your phone. There’s no account and no cloud sync, so we can’t see them — and we can’t restore them for you.
I’m switching phones. How do I keep my data?
There’s no cloud sync. Depending on your settings, your book may be included in your device backup and restored with it. Before you switch, export every original (free) so you have your own copy.
How do I turn off anonymous usage stats?
Open Settings in ReceiptBook and switch off Share anonymous usage. We never collect images or text of your documents, amounts, vendor names or notes. See the Privacy Policy for details.
How do I delete my data?
Open Settings in ReceiptBook and tap Erase all data. This deletes everything ReceiptBook stores on your phone and can’t be undone. Deleting the app does the same.
